Concours George Vincent 2010
Prix La Pérouse
As every year, the Alliance Francaise of Canberra invites all the students from ACT to participate to a unique oportunity to participate to the George Vincent competition. This contest allows students studying French to showcase their skills and reward their work in French classes.
Instruction:
Step 1. Contact Amandine Endelin, the competition coordinator by email georgevincent.afc@gmail.com or by phone 6247 5027.
Step 2. Complete the enrollment form and send it by email georgevincent.afc@gmail or by mail at Alliance Francaise Canberra PO Box 6125 O'Connor ACT 2602. Payment will have to be fowarded to the Alliance.
Step 3. Instructions will sent to you with the copies for the written tests.
Regulation:
1. The Concours Goerge Vincent is organised by the Alliance Francaise of Canberra. It is open to all the secondary students of ACT studying French.
2. Candidates are divided into two categories:
- Years 8, 9 and 10
- Years 11, 12 and “francophones”
“francophones” are students who:
- Are currently studying in a French school
- Have a French family member
- Have lived in a French speaking country for more than 6 months.
Those students are not allow to compete for the Prix La Pérouse.
3. A $10 fee will be ask for each students participating to the competition.
4. The Concours George Vincent consists in 2 distinct examinations :
- a written examination conducted in schools.
- a speaking examination conducted at the Alliance Française of Canberra.
5. The written examination.
Examination papers will be forwarded to school after enrolment. The supervision of the test will be under the teacher’s responsibility. It will consist in a listening comprehension, a reading comprehension and a writing. The examinations will take place on the 15th, 16th or 17th of June 2010.
All the candidates who would obtain a grade superior to 50/100 will receive a French Language Certificate from the Alliance Française de Canberra.
6. The speaking examination.
The speaking examination will take place at the Alliance Française of Canberra on the 29th and 30th of July 2010. However exceptional arrangements can be made for regional schools.
7. The three best candidates of each category (year 8, 9 and 10) and (year 11, 12 and francophones) will be awarded a selection of books offered by the Alliance Française of Canberra.
The best candidate in the category (year 11 and 12) will receive Le Prix La Perouse 2010 : a trip to New Caledonia with the other winners of Australia.
About the Prix La Pérouse
Crée en 1973 par la Fédération des Alliances Françaises en Australie, le Prix La Pérouse récompense le meilleur étudiant de Français Langue Etrangère de chaque Etat australien . Ce prix s’adresse à tous les étudiants de Français Langue Etrangère des classes de Première (year 11) et de Terminale (year 12) de tous les Etats australiens. La sélection des candidats s’opère sur la base des résultats aux concours “Alliance Française” portant le nom du membre fondateur de l’Alliance organisatrice des épreuves dans chaque ville capitale (George Vincent à Canberra).
Une sensibilisation à l’histoire, à la géographie, à la langue, de même qu’aux réalités socioculturelles sur le Territoire néo-calédonien, est l’objectif principal de ce séjour à vocation pédagogique.
