We know the move to online implies a lot of changes for everyone. In order to communicate easily, please find below the answers to the most commonly asked questions. When will the online courses start?

We are currently preparing to put all courses online. Courses will be taught in classrooms (16-21 March). All classes will go fully online from Monday 23 March and will continue online for the foreseeable future.

How are the online courses delivered?

They will be delivered through a combination of virtual online classes with your teacher using Zoom, online tutoring and individual exercises using our online platform Apolearn. Larger class will be halved to ensure an enjoyable virtual classroom experience with Zoom.

Combo courses will also include 10 minutes of 1-to-1 private lesson per week with your teacher as well as the online tutoring and individual exercises.

For Conversation classes, in addition to the small group class experience, we will include a 15 minute duo lesson per week, which is a where the teacher will observe two students in conversation and provide.

Classes for younger children will include an activity kit for parents to use at home with their children, as well as some amount of online activity appropriate to the age of the child.

Teachers will be in contact with students via Apolearn. We will be updating our website with the new information shortly.

I enrolled in a cultural event but the workshop got cancelled. Do I get a refund?

Yes, the Alliance Française office will be in contact to offer you a refund or course credit. You may also wish to consider supporting the Alliance Française through this difficult time by turning your payment into a tax deductible donation to our building fund.

How long will the online courses go for?

The courses will follow the same Term timetable as planned. That is, Term 1 will end on Thursday 9 April and Term 2 (28 April to 3 July).

Can we still access your library?

The library will be closed from Saturday 21 March.

What precautionary measures has the Alliance been taking while its doors have been open this week? (16-21 March) ?

Each classroom has hand sanitizer available and we have been requesting every student to use this when entering and exiting the classroom. Desks are wiped down with alcoholic wipes between classes. Our building is thoroughly cleaned each day and the cleaners have been instructed to use products that eradicate the Covid-19 virus. We have not be preparing food in the bar for the time being, but drinks will still be available. We have also requested students who are unwell or whose family members are sick, or those who have recently travelled internationally, to not attend class in person. Alternative arrangements were available for such students to receive class materials.
