DÉFI Inter Alliances 2024

The DÉFI Inter-Alliances (DIA) is back in 2024 for a new special edition on the Francophonie!

Represent the Alliance Française de Canberra in this competition on French and Francophone culture among learners from Alliances Françaises worldwide and try to win a trip to Paris.

The competition takes place in 4 stages, with different prizes each time.

Local selection:
May 1^st at 6pm
Free renewal of your membership and 2 invitations to an event organised at the Alliance Française de Canberra
National selection:
May 10^th at 6pm
A night’s accommodation in a Sofitel hotel of their choice in Australia
Geographical zone selection (new in 2024):
June 1^st at 6pm
Trip to Paris to participate in the international final
International final:
October 1^st in Paris (time TBC)

Want to participate?

You have until Tuesday 30^th April to register for the local selection, that will take place on Wednesday 1^st May at 6:30pm (online on Zoom or at the Alliance Française).

You only need to:

Be over 18 years old when registering to the competition.
Have a minimum level of A2.
Be a member of the Alliance Française de Canberra.

The winners of an international final in previous editions (2021, 2022, and 2023) are not allowed to participate in the DIA 2024.

Whats is the DIA?

The DIA is an international general knowledge competition organised by the Alliances Françaises network around the world. Learners from participating Alliances compete around questions about French and Francophone culture (art, gastronomy, history, music, sports...).

Is registration free?

Yes! The DIA is a completely free competition.

How does it work?

The DIA is an online general cultural quiz, entirely in French and on the digital platform Kahoot.
To compete, you need two devices:

A computer to access Zoom for the virtual game space.
A mobile phone to answer the question using Kahoot.

Both software are free and do not require having an account.

Where does it take place?

The first 3 steps take place online and can be followed from wherever you are. We recommend being in a quiet place and having a good internet connection.
The Alliance Française de Canberra can provide a room in its premises.

The international final takes place in Paris. Travel and accommodation are included in the prize for the geographic selection. Please refer to the competition's Terms and Conditions for more details.

The DIA is a fun way to practice your French, test your knowledge of Francophone culture, and to proudly represent Canberra and Australia in an international competition!
