From October 22nd to November 24th, we will be very happy to receive the exhibition of French photographer Jean-Yves Camus, "Landscapes. Territoires rêvés". The photos, taken in Iceland, Switzerland and France, will take you to a journey through spaces that look both empty and full of meaning and history.
The opening will be on October 22nd at 7pm, by M. Eric Soulier, Cultural Counselor at the French Embassy, in the presence of the artist.
Free entry. Cheese and wine.
Jean-Yves Camus is well known in France and in Europe through his exhibitions since 1990. This exhibition was already shown in France in several galleries. The Conseil Régional of Lorraine sponsored it to tour Australia, starting at the Alliance Française de Canberra.
You will also be able to explore Camus' work with his beautiful book Land(escape). Un sentiment de paysage / a sense of landscape, that associates Camus' images with an essay by Antonio Guzmán.

After the opening of his exhibition, Jean-Yves Camus will discuss his work and his book, in French, but with the possibility to ask questions in English. "Jean-Yves Camus nous fait arpenter et pister les chemins de travers des contrées dépouillées, mais également ceux du vécu à la vision et au visuel, de la transformation de trois dimensions en deux, de la vue en regard et de la translation du contexte au projet.
Le travail photographique de Jean-Yves Camus relate un récit de la terre. Il raconte visuellement et librement des faits du passé, préhistoriques (littéralement, avant les temps des récits et du langage des choses) et antédiluviens (littéralement encore, antérieurs aux grandes pluies du déluge d’autres récits). Il est question de sol, de flore, du climat. En cela, c’est un récit élémentaire, au sens de récit premier et primordial (sinon des origines, du moins bien avant la mort) ayant trait aux éléments : l’air, l’eau, le feu, la terre, comme quatre éléments de vocabulaire et du lexique de ce discours visuel."

Jean-Yves Camus’ photographic work tells a tale of the earth. It relates, visually and freely, past facts, prehistoric (literally: before the time of tales and of language) and antediluvian (literally again: before the great rains of deluges of other tales). It questions soil, flora, climate. It’s a fundamental tale, a primary and primordial tale (if not about origins, at least about something well before death). It touches vocabulary and lexical elements of this visual speech."
