In term 3, students learning French in primary schools and secondary schools in the ACT had the opportunity to practise
their French pronunciation by learning a French poem by heart and take part in a poetry reciting competition.
The Prize ceremony for the competition will take place at the Alliance Française on Wednesday 9 November, at 4pm for the
Primary school winners and at 5 pm for the Secondary school winners.
This ceremony is for the winning students and their family only. Winning students will receive a personal invitation.

Each fall, shortly after harvest, fresh and fruit-forward Beaujolais nouveau is released. Beaujolais nouveau is made from gamay grapes grown
in France's Beaujolais region, an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) located in Northeastern France near Lyon.
Intended for immediate consumption, Beaujolais nouveau is a juicy number best served with a slight chill!

French - la langue de Molière.
Lend your ears to the words of leading French playwright Yasmina Reza as first written and spoken in her native language, read by Alliance Française de Canberra's teacher Stéphanie Pouliquin and communication expert Louise Roudière and ANU School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics students Emmanuelle Dunn Lewis and Sophie Holloway in a unique collaboration.

From 15 September to 14 October, the Alliance Francaise of Canberra will present 'Fake News', an exhibition produced by Poster for Tomorrow, with the support of the Institut Francais and the French Embassy in Australia.
'Fake News' is an exhibition that reflects on the power of spreading fake and misleading information. With the ever growing
use of social media, we are now constantly given global news and information - how do we detect which are true and which are not?
Traditional media now have to face a constant flood of information online, from various sources. This exhibition reflects on
the impact this has on public opinion, how these Fake News are used by various personalities and politicians.

As Christophe, our wine specialist from French Flair, has just come back from his trip to France this July, come and enjoy his newest discoveries!
From 2 to 19 August, selected artists from ANU School of Arts will be exhibiting their work at the Alliance Francaise of Canberra. Winners of the EASS (Emerging Artist Supporting Scheme) award, these artists will showcase paintings, photographs, glass works, furniture and more in the exhibition space at the Alliance.
On August 5th from 6pm, we will be projecting one of the absolute classics of French cinema: Les
Choristes
directed by Christophe Barratier.
Get with us for one of the funniest French comedy! This film is beautiful, moving, joyful and
with good feelings but also some dramatic moments. Starring Gérard Jugnot, Kad Merad, Jean-Baptiste Monnier, all very
appreciated in France, this movie won't disappoint you .
(This movie will be projected in French with French subtitles: for advanced levels, it is a way
to practice both oral and written comprehension.)

The election to change legal structure of the Alliance Française of Canberra will take place May 25th,
from 5pm at the Alliance Française of Canberra.
The Committee of the Alliance française de Canberra has decided to propose to members that the Alliance should move from an Incorporated
Association to a Company Limited by Guarantee. This change will have no impact on you or your French classes or our events. If this change
occurs, you will remain a member of the new organisation. The Committee believes that this change will ensure that the Alliance is
structured in the most appropriate and resilient way to enable it to thrive both now and into the future. This change will also give us the
opportunity to expand our reach into regional areas surrounding the ACT.

Francophonie Market Friday 18 March 4-6pm at the Alliance française de Canberra Come and fête International Francophonie Week with us at our annual Francophonie Market! The week celebrates all the French-speaking countries of the world. Our market brings together 11 embassy stalls from diverse French-speaking countries who will share with you samples of their national food and drink.
