About the artists

Lisa Wilmot

Drawing on natural and urban environments, Lisa Wilmot uses methods commonly associated with Hard Edge Painting and Colour Field Painting to evoke atmospheric light effects.

Through grids and patterns, let yourself be transported by an accumulation of sensory, visual and phenomenological experiences, for a complete immersion in rhythm and sensation!

Lisa graduated from the ANU School of Art and Design in 2025 with First Class Honours. She is thrilled and grateful to have received an Emerging Artist Award Scheme award, enabling her to take part in this exhibition at the Alliance Française.

Helen Goodwin

Helen Goodwin
is a Kamberra/Canberra-based artist. Her painted figures are often in a state of transition or in unsettling, curious situations where the ground plane is undetermined.

Her practice begins with collage and drawing to create the initial composition. She is interested in capturing different states of time within one painting by combining fast and slow applications of paint.

Helen received a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours, First Class) from the ANU School of Art and Design in 2025 and was the recipient of the Peter and Lena Karmel Honours Scholarship. She is currently a studio tenant at the dynamic M16 Art Space and is a Graduate in Residence at the ANU School of Art and Design.

Madeleine Forner

Based on Ngunnawal and Ngambri land, visual artist Madeleine Forner explores, through stitching, the sensory field of colour and the intersections between chroma, sculptural perception and vulnerability.

By physically altering the painted surface and creating moments of repair, the act of making becomes a space for regulation and reflection, allowing the paintings to hold vulnerability and the possibility of healing.

Fragmented emotions expand into abstract, amorphous forms, where tone, texture and fluid movement create shifting visual rhythms.
